get off your phone

I bet your screentime is crazy.

When was the last time you went outside, or sat with a book, done some people watching or bird watching, or even listened to music without your phone in your hand?

How many times a day do you check your phone?

Is it always with intention? Or out of habit?

For me it's become a problem

So here's my little page where I will post some things I've tried, and some resources, in case you also want to make a change and actually take control of your life again.

I miss having hobbies that I spent my time doing instead of scrolling

I feel uncomfortable sitting in boredom

I spend all my time researching all these things I want to do but never taking action... but is it my fault? Or am I simply a product of the design, a consequence that was thought of, but dismissed in favour of profit and greed of power

They've made it so I'm working against my brain. Made things addictive. I have always been so careful to not suffer from addiction, setting limits, and yet, I have found that my phone and internet use is out of control. I am still missing out on my life.

You can have the best intentions, but it's a war as soon as that screen flicks on.

Notifications, flickering lights, colourful objects beaming at you, hypnotising you, enticing you to click them and look and listen and stay as long as you like... or even longer.

Suddenly you forget what you even set out to do, or time has past longer than you thought. Those 10 second videos add up quickly, too quickly to count.

Sound familiar?

Coming soon:

Follow along as I combat my tech addiction by creating a website... because that will certainly keep me off them devices right? Probably a bad idea. If this website doesn't update, it might mean I'm doing better. Or I'm sucked so far down the rabbit hole and my brain is mush. But at least this is intentional usage. Creation. Taking action. At this point that's a promising improvement.
